Description & Use Case
The idea is to visualize more abstract information about an artist, such as past concerts and popularity by countries. For this we overlay a world map with easily understood icons encoding the information. One is a bubble whose radius depends on the ratio of fans in the corresponding country so that the user can see in which countries his artist is popular (according to Last.fm). The second is a bar graph showing the absolute amount of positive and negative comments made about the artists' latest concerts. Theoretically the user can now see if the artist's concerts are worth visiting. However, this info is taken from Twitter, so use at your own risk.
Also, other data like upcoming concerts, current tweets and their biography are provided for context.
Problems and Possible Enhancements
Apart from other layers (like showing the location of the next concerts in the map), there is room for improvement by using more comments from Twitter and/or other sites, or probably a more advanced classificator.
- Data comes from Last.fm and Twitter
- Also uses the Openlayer and OpenStreetMaps JS libraries
